Another Reading

I really don't like Troy Maxson. The dude's, like, super unlikable. Which is by design, obviously-and I'd be lying if I said that his character wasn't wholly genuine and felt real above all else. I think he kind of just triggers my fight or flight response because he kind of exemplifies some of the worst traits in my male role models. Zealous pride, combativeness, infidelity, envy. Just a genuinely unpleasant person to be around for extended periods of time.

Picture Day

Image
As the title suggested, today was picture day. I looked pretty musty today but that's fine. This isn't my senior picture and it won't be in the yearbook, thank God. I've got no one to impress but it's just a vibes thing. I didn't want to stand in line for however long just for my yearbook picture to be disappointingly ugly. How wack would that be? Also, me and Mr. B aren't cool no more. He needs to see me outside. He knows what he did.

Senior Year Essay

Senior year has so far been pretty mid. That's about as well as I can articulate the experience without veering into ambiguous territory. My expectations were pretty amorphous and I had no affectations of being a model student or making any new friends. I just wanted, and continue to want, not much else outside of graduating and dipping to some place far away and not adulterated by the same simps who I'm currently forced to share a suburb with. I so far have developed nothing but outright animosity towards the school board largely concerning this cellphone fiasco, and I consider any aggrandizing of them or their actions to be bootlicking. Besides all that, though, everything's copacetic.

Fences Questions

I thought I was boned when I came in without my permission slip, but thankfully, I have time for a re-up. Despite all that chicanery, though; today's lesson was fairly uninvolved yet also very thought-provoking. We got kind of deep and spiritual when we moved into the metaphorical idea of what it means to create fences in your life. I feel like I learned a lot about myself and others, even if it was just little stuff.

I Want A Husband Questions

Today we covered the 10 questions pertaining to our "I Want A Husband" reading. I think we had a neat conversation with plenty of intersecting and contrasting questions. I thought it was doubly interesting to hear what I disagreed with my classmates on and whether that was a gender thing or not. It's thought-provoking stuff for sure.

I Want A Husband

I thought this was a thought-provoking exercise kind of. It was interesting to see how milquetoast and unimaginative everyone's answers ended up being. I myself was kind of lost when it came to ideas on the subject which I think is kind of indicative of how very few societal expectations are placed on fathers when compared to women in a parental role. There wasn't a lot to say in all honesty. That totally blows for women.

Last Presentations

We had a vocab test today and we wrapped up the last of the StoryMap presentations. The test was light work and I'm glad everybody got to present. I enjoy how laid-back and pretty undemanding this class is so far. I'm sure by spring I'll be fighting for my life, though. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it, I guess. It helps no one to overthink.

Sept 3.

Tuesday was exceedingly chill. Getting some extra study hall-esque downtime to work on our StoryMaps was cool even though I didn't need it by that point. I really enjoyed the fact that there was hardly any work to do. That was tight. Probably the highlight of the school day for me solely because I got to relax.

Presentation Day

So yesterday wasn't all that great to start. I uploaded the wrong link like a doofus and so I had to go last out of everybody which kind of felt as though there was an added layer of expectation hoisted on to me. In spite of this, however, I think everything turned out pretty well. I mean, it didn't turn out poorly should I say. Everybody seemed to like my presentation and thought I was a talented and funny orator which I appreciate hearing. Altogether, I like this assignment and thought it was pretty neat. I'd for sure do something like it again some time. Learning about other people's cultures and life stories is always interesting and gives you plenty of food for thought when it comes to intersectionality and whatnot.
